2022 Country Round Robin Champions Crowned

The 2022 men’s and women’s MGA Country Round Robin events came to a close today, with some exciting results across both competitions.

The men’s competition, which was held at Marion, was a thrilling contest over the four days, with Upper Northern, North Eastern and Yorke Peninsula undefeated after the first two days.

Upper Northern and North Eastern then played out a draw on day three, leaving Yorke Peninsula in the box seat, before they were defeated by Upper Northern in the afternoon game on day three.

This saw Upper Northern and North Eastern head into the final day level on five wins and one draw each.

Both scored big wins to finish the week on equal points, with Upper Northern eventually crowned champions on rinks won.

The women’s event, which was held at Lockleys, was also an exciting affair, with Eastern, Fleurieu & KI and Lower North setting the pace across the four days.

Eastern looked to be in a strong position as they were undefeated through the first two days, however some upset results on Wednesday reshaped the ladder, with Lower North eventually finishing on top of the table with six wins and one loss to claim the title.
