2022-23 State Over 60’s Pairs Champions Crowned

Over the past three days women and men from clubs across South Australia have faced off to compete for the State Over 60’s Pairs crowns.

With a field of 18 sections the men’s matches started on Saturday and were played at Salisbury and Modbury Bowling Clubs while women’s matches of six sections started on Sunday and were played at Playford and Modbury Bowling Clubs.

In the women’s gold medal match at Modbury Bowling club Port Noarlunga’s Faye Anderson and Port Broughton’s Debbie Dennis were defeated by the West Lakes pair of Karen Gatto and Jackie Field, who clinched the women’s title.

Third place was secured by Hope Valley’s Raelene Heitmann & Modbury’s Vicki Arbon with a strong win against Brighton’s G Hodshon and D Stoddart.

The men’s gold medal match also at Modbury Bowling club saw Lockleys pair Peter Thaler and Ashley Halls put together a strong display to overcome a talent-packed field defeating Happy Valley’s pair of Bill Hughes and Bob Schultz to claim the men’s title.

Third place was a nailbiter with Hawthorn’s Brett Willcox & Darren Niblett winning by one shot over Modbury’s J Nelson and Toorak Burnside’s G Boccaccio.
