Bowls SA – Events Update 1/12/2020

by BowlsSA2

As of Tuesday December 1st, community sport is able to resume provided clubs and members are compliant with covid-19 guidelines. An update to the status of Bowls SA events which were disrupted due to the two week shutdown is provided below:

Pennant competition:

Bowls SA will continue to communicate updates from the SA government and provide overarching policy recommendation. Currently the main things of paramount importance is to ensure that the covid safe plan of each club is abided by, social distancing is adhered to and good hygiene practices maintained.

Each Association has a different schedule and varying goals for their competition. We hope that each Association has developed a scheduling plan for resumption to pennant play and communicated this with their respective Member clubs accordingly.  We encourage you to empower and engage your member clubs to ensure rescheduling is in the best interest of your clubs. We are here to support the Associations where needed to provide advice for rescheduling  pennant competitions.

Member Clubs are required to ensure that their club remains compliant with their individual covid safe plan when hosting any form of bowls activity. This will include performing Covid tracing exercises (QR code / check in register), ensuring required covid Marshalls are in place, ensuring density limits of inside and outside patronage are being adhered to and good hygiene practices being implemented. Member Clubs are encouraged to contact their Association for updates in relation to scheduling as required and relay this information to their members. If any scheduling by an Association convenes a clubs covid safe plan – the club needs to alert the Association to this so that a solution can be identified.

Members need to follow all directions of the host member club and any covid marshalls of the day. Members need to stay home if they have any symptoms or have been instructed to isolate by SA health. Members should only participate in sport should they feel comfortable to do so and should take account for their own health.

Disruption to Bowls SA State Events

Our intent is to continue events with minimum disruption to other scheduled events where possible.

State Pairs: The Final 16 & 8 as well as Semi Finals and Finals are currently postponed. These games have been provisionally rescheduled to the State Event Back up days of April 24 & 25 and any updates to these dates will be provided.

More information in relation to the scheduling, venues and timing for all matches can be found under section 15 of the Conditions of Play: Conditions of Play – Bowls SA

Some changes to the Conditions of Play have been made to accommodate for the double header matches.

Upcoming January / February Events:

State events that are due to be played in January and February including the MGA Men’s Country Carnival, Sports Centre State Singles and Under 18 Championships have closing dates for entries in December which is just around the corner, so now is the time to get your registrations in.

Bowls SA is hopeful that these events along with the Country Round Robin will be able to go ahead unimpeded by Covid-19 restrictions. What we want to acknowledge is that if any event is impeded by Covid-19 restrictions then the entrant will be entitled to a full refund of the entry fee payed to Bowls SA.
