2019 Under SA v VIC series – Day three results
The third and final day of the 2019 SA v VIC Under 18 series has now concluded at the City of Geelong Bowling Club in Victoria.
Despite the series already being decided prior to play of the third day our SA teams were looking to restore balance to the ledger and claim a third test victory.
With the boys splitting the rinks 1-1 after the first half of test three and holding a positive shot margin, they were raring to come out and put their best foot forward. With some positional changes, all players put their head down and played their role. A narrow loss in the triples meant it was up to the pairs. A victory would secure the third test. Our duo played exceptionally holding game and the test with just one bowl to come however an excellent conversion from the Victorian skip would see them snatch victory claiming the test and giving Victoria a 3-0 scoreline.
Our girls faced an uphill task after losing both rinks in the first half of test three but two winning rinks would see them having won just as many rinks as the Victorians throughout the series with only shot margin being the difference. The girls again played well and gave it their all however the Victorians were just a little more consistent and claimed both rinks also giving them a 3-0 series scoreline.
Despite the score some valuable experience was gained for a lot of players understanding what it takes to play at state level consistently. There were some strong individual performances, particularly in the singles where both SA players performed strongly.
We thank the City of Geelong Bowling Club, their volunteers and the Victorian team for being great hosts. The series was played in great spirit and of a high standard.
