2019 Under 18 SA v VIC series – Day two results

Day two of the 2019 SA v VIC series has been completed at the City of Geelong Bowling Club in Victoria. After the Victorians claimed test one in both the girls and boys series on Tuesday, our SA team was hungry to even the ledger on day two and keep the series alive.

 

Upon completion of the first session the boys had again split the rinks at 1-1 with an exceptional singles performance from Nathan Black giving the SA boys a superior shot margin heading into the afternoon. The SA girls ran into a powerful Victorian outfit and were unable to claim either discipline despite battling hard.

 

With the second test and series on the line the boys looked to keep the momentum going from the morning, despite another fighting effort, the Victorians managed to secure both rinks to claim the second test and the series. The girls bounced back strongly from their morning session and claimed both rinks in a great turnaround, however the Victorians again claimed the second test and girls series on shot margin.

 

With pride on the line, attention has now turned to test three where SA will look to continue to develop their shot play and consistency in preparation for the Australian Under 18 championships later in the year. The third test began in the evening, the boys are again locked at 1-1 thanks to another strong singles performance from Nathan Black. The girls continued to grow in confidence and experience and put in further good performances despite not being able to claim a rink off the Victorians. Lucy Tiller was afforded the opportunity to skipper for the first time and performed admirably with solid contributions from all other players.

 

The series will conclude tomorrow morning with the conclusion of test three with both teams able to still claim the third test with good morning performances.
