School Championships

Bowls SA provides the opportunity for all School students to participate in an annual Lawn Bowls championship against all other schools run by Bowls SA. There is an Open Singles and Open Triples event for both Primary School and Secondary Schools respectively. These are structured days providing competition to play for the Gold, Silver & Bronze medals in each discipline, however the days always come with a strong element of social interaction between schools with participation being the underlying goal.

2019 review:

A wet and windy day greeted us for the 2019 Secondary School Championships being held at Lockleys Bowling Club. The weather didn’t  deter our 22 singles players and 14 triples teams and thanks to the fantastic efforts of the volunteer makers and the greenkeeping team at Lockleys a full day of fantastic bowls was enjoyed by all participants.

The Secondary School Championships aim to blend competition with participation to provide school participants who may have been introduced to the sport an opportunity to progress their skills in competition against other juniors.

Schools had the ability to nominate players for the singles or triples events with players then competing in shortened game vying for the Gold, Silver & Bronze medals in each discipline.

The results from the day are below:

Gold: Fergus Rowntree (Prince Alfred College)

Silver: Connor Brown ( Kadina Memorial School)

Bronze: Faith Scholes (Kadina Memorial School)

Gold: Olivia Bridgland, Scarlett Miles & Lucy Duncan (Wilderness School)

Silver: Olivia Elfenbein, Emily Jose, Georgie Wilson (Wilderness School)

Bronze: Talan Copley, Tanisha Jentz & Rhys Hanna (Cardijn College)

Bowls SA again thank the volunteers who assisted with the running of the event. If your club is interested in establishing school sessions but are unsure where to start, please contact the Bowls SA office on 8234 7544.

Bowls SA offer 2 SACE courses, a SACE Minor (approx 12 hours) for Year 11 and a SACE Major (approx 18 hours) for Year 12. These are both SACE approved courses. All of our courses are delivered by experienced Bowls SA Coaches, who are professionally trained (with current Police Checks) to be able to work with students. Bowls SA Coaches must undergo the following stringent rules:
