The Game of Snakes and Ladders

S Y P Bowls Report by Kenn Rogers.

Curramulka placed another twist to the ladder on Saturday when they defeated Warooka at Warooka. The ladder is reminiscent of the game of Snakes and Ladders, when you win you go when you lose you slip down a place or twp. Warooka had slipped out of the top four now and are in fifth position four points ahead of Stansbury. On the other hand, Curramulka has climbed the ladder into fourth place.

Minlaton scored a good win against Port Vincent to give them a lift up the ladder to third place whilst stansbury landed on a snake and slipped to sixth place. They will need a good role of the dice in the last few games to make the finals.

Regardless of results from hereon in Yorketown and Edithbrugh are safe at the top of the ladder and will not lose their positions,.

CURRAMULKA v WAROOKA.

This game transferred to Warooka, as the Curry greens are still not suitable for play. The Magpies won by four shots with Gordon Short up 27-18 on Ken Coad and Des Short, played out a draw with Col Thyer. The plus side for Warooka was with Jim Fiege when his team won 28-26 over Lyndon Watters and Bob Harris scored a three shot win against Marshall Thompson.

YORKETOWN  v  PORT VICTORIA.

The supremos of the S Y P association had little trouble in defeating The Ports last week as they only dropped one rink. Good to see Mark Rudduck back in the winners circle after a lean start to the second half of the season as he defeated Bob greenslade 29-14.

Peter Tonkin had the better of Ken Baker 25-22 and Leith Daniel 22 scored a seven shot win against trevor Sly on 15. The only loss for Yorketown was that of Harry Edwards who filled in for Styeven Redding. Edwards lost to Phillip Davies 21-25.

EDITHBURGH v STANSBURY.

Once again the Burgh boys proved far too strong for the Dolphins even though there was only eight shots in the overall score. This difference was due to Des Riley scoring a brilliant 29-18 win against the in form greg Davies.Maurice Joihnson scored a three shot win against Rob Natt 25-22 and Barry Stokes won24-21 against Greg Nankivell. The big winner for the Burgh was that of Les Diprose when he defeated Ian perry 27-14.

MINLATON v PORT VINCENT.

The maroons scored a run away win against Vincent to the tune of 118 to 73, with Vincent winning only one rink, that of Ricky Bruhn 25 against Jamie Baker 24.

Nick Shepherd scored a big win against Jon Skuse 35-15 and Geoff Frost was up ten shots on David Jones 30-20. Jack Glazbrook slaughtered Corey wildash 29-13.

DIVISION 2

The biggest surprise in second division was the loss by Edithburgh to Yorketown Blue 57-87 and scored no premiership points. This loss by the Burgh opened up the gap between them and the top three sides as they slipped to fourth bplace.

Curramulka battled hard against Stansbury White but all to no avail except to pick up two premiership points. The loss leaves them just outside the top six for the playoff.
